Mr Museveni saysUganda will remain at peace. Nobody has the capacity to disturb peace. Nobody has the capacity to disturb this, however much they might try.

12: 08 EAT: President Museveni proceeds to inspect the guard of honour mounted by members of security forces. Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe, 92, arrived while President Museveni was taking the oath.
Prof Venansius Baryamureeba and Ms M. Kyala are the only two candidates who contested against Mr Museveni who have attended the swearing-in. Prof. Baryamureeba is on record for having conceded defeat and promised to serve in any capacity at the request of Ugandans whose powers are entrusted in the hands of president-elect Yoweri Museveni.
Prof Baryamureeba, who polled 51, 086 votes (0.55%) as an independent candidate against Mr Museveni's 60.8 percent.
11: 54 EAT: Amid ululations, Mr Museveni swears in and signs the oath of allegiance and he is handed the instruments of power by Justice Bart Katureebe. The instruments include the Constitution (supreme instrument), the National flag (sign of Uganda's independence and sovereignty), the presidential standard flag, the National Anthem, the Court of Arms and the Public Seal.
The CDF Gen Katumba Wamala hands over a sword and a shield (the symbol of National Defence Forces) to the President.
The president proceed to the saluting podium as a newly sworn in president. This is followed by a 21 gun salute.

11: 45 EAT: Accompanied by the First Lady Janet, President Museveni takes to the podium as the swearing-in ceremony starts. Electoral Commission Chairman Dr Badru Kiggundu unveils Mr Museveni, as the president elect. President Museveni defeated Forum for Democratic Change's Kizza Besigye, Go Forward's Amama Mbabazi, Mr Abed Bwanika of the PDP, Prof Baryamureeba, Ms Kyala , Mr Joseph Mabiriizi and Gen Benon Biraaro.
